In Madagascar, electricity is not accessible nor affordable for most people. An estimated 33.7% of the population has access to electricity, compared to an average of 48.4% for Sub-Saharan Africa in 2020. Jiro-Ve’s innovative, inclusive micro franchise model provides affordable, clean, and healthy lighting for marginalized communities. Their model allows them to rent out a rechargeable LED light for a price that is cheaper than candles or kerosene.
One of Jiro-VE’s top priorities going into this project was building a world-class performance management program.
Jiro-VE partnered with Nina Werner, an experienced People leader with an entrepreneur mindset. Together, they:
• Clarified corporate objectives and individual/team roles and responsibilities
• Drafted a new performance appraisal process based on best practices and staff and company priorities
• Identified key needs and concerns to implement an incentive structure based on staff feedback
