Code for America partnered with Rippleworks to build the strategic talent plan for scale
Code for America strives to improve how the government serves the American public, and how the public improves government. Founded in 2009 to address the widening gap between the public and private sectors in their effective use of technology and design through three high-impact focus areas: Criminal Justice, Social Safety Net, and Workforce Development.
Code for America’s top priority was building on and maintaining a high performing organizational culture to continue to attract, retain, and engage the talented people who enable it to deliver impact. Code for America partnered with Rippleworks to build a strategic talent plan that helps understand, report on, and attract its network of mission-driven people.
Code for America partnered with Rippleworks Expert Nathalie McGrath, who has led people operations at Coinbase and Stanford’s Graduate School of Business. Together, they:
• Evaluated employee health metrics, exit interviews, and engagement survey results to understand unmet needs of current employee community
• Defined an Employee Value Proposition (EVP) and key Code for America behaviors to attract candidates and retain employees
• Designed a plan to integrate EVP and behaviors into internal and external messaging
• Brainstormed new programs to better engage team at multiple zones of the employee life cycle
