Reducing maternal mortality in Nepal

One Heart Worldwide has developed a model in direct partnership with the government of Nepal and local communities to provide quality healthcare solutions to mothers and newborns. Nepal’s Maternal Mortality Ratio (MMR) of 174 per 100,000 live births is among the highest in Asia compared to India (102), Bhutan (59), and Sri Lanka (29). Nepal faces major healthcare challenges, including inadequate training for healthcare providers, poor health facility conditions, and disparities in access to skilled birth attendants, especially in rural areas; only 26% of the poorest households have access to skilled birth attendants, compared to 93% of the urban households.
