Venture: Kheyti

Investment: $3M grant

Portfolio: Scaling Capital

Investment date: January 2025

Region(s) served: India

Sector: Agriculture

Core Impact Metric: Increase in farmer incomes

Accelerating growth and sustainability through government momentum

Kheyti has redesigned the greenhouse to meet the needs of smallholder farmers and equip them to earn climate-resilient farm incomes. The greenhouse uses shade cloth to create a temperate climate, rain sheets to protect crops, insect netting to keep pests away, and a built-in drip irrigation system to reduce water usage. Moreover, it only takes up 1-5% of a farmer’s land and ~1 hour of labor per day.

Why Rippleworks Invested:

Kheyti has designed the world’s cheapest greenhouse and is demonstrating what climate resilience for smallholder farmers in India can look like with tangible opportunities for government financing. A large, unrestricted grant would allow Kheyti to make upfront strategic investments in the organization to capitalize on its government traction.
